Doug’s been visiting Mexico and the Chapala area since 1993 when he first came to Guadalajara on business for Siemens.  Staying over for a couple of extra days he fell in love with Ajijic and the Lakeside area and has been coming here ever since.  Doug will be more than happy to share his experience with you.

On a personal basis, Doug has bought and sold over fifteen (15) properties in three provinces and two countries. He’s acted as a landlord and general contractor during building or renovations on some of the properties. Doug and his wife Gail currently own homes in Mexico and Canada. They purchased their current Mexican property in Villa Nova four years ago and successfully managed a complete top to bottom renovation.  They love it here!!

Essentially Doug has been in Sales and Marketing all of his life with various well known companies until he recently retired from IBM.  He has held several senior management positions including Executive Vice-President Sales & Marketing in both the United States and Canada.  He also was involved in the Commercial Real Estate business with J.J. Barnicke Ltd. (Toronto) In addition he has eight years parallel experience in journalism with the Ottawa Citizen, AutoWeek (automobile racing), various magazines and broadcasting/commentating with the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).

Ed & Rosie Hughes, arrived at Lakeside June 2001 after 35 years in Dallas, Texas. During their time here, they have become thoroughly familiar with the area real estate market, as well as construction techniques, water availability and the like.

Jenny Herren (Sales Associate)

Jenny Micheletti Herren is a B.O.I. (born on island) from Galveston, Texas. She and her husband Buddy Herren moved to Ajijic from Dallas, Texas in May of 2004 where she was employed with a large advertising agency Temerlin McClain. Jenny was not ready to retire so she decided to get into real estate to meet people and to see what is behind the walls. In her first six months Jenny sold 6 properties for over a million in sales and continues to love her business and her clients. John Cearnal (ker-nail) moved to lakeside in 2005 from Fort Worth, Texas. Two years ago John drove to Texas to marry the love of his life Juanita Diaz. Juanita was born in Mexico, but spend the last 20 years working for a country club in Forth Worth.

Once upon a time I was born in Mexico City. I started my business as a seller since I was 7 years old at the benediction school, then I went to live in San Antonio, Texas with the Nuns. Later I went to Europe to learn French and to become a cosmetician, I worked in Televisa, a TV Company in Mexico. Lori Fjested (Sales Associate)

Lori has been visiting Mexico since 1984, When she and her husband Dave purchased a time-share property in in Puerto Vallarta. Since then she has traveled Mexico settling in Chapala in 2005. "The weather brought us, but the people are what keeps us and really makes this home."

Born and raised in Northfield Minnesota, (home of the foiled Jesse James Bank Raid) Lori worked for 11 years at Carleton College. There she supervised over 80 students who ran the College Library. Concurrently, she ran an Auction Supply company; Kwick Klerk, Inc. The majority of her clients were Bankers and Auctioneers from the Midwest.

Searching for sunshine, in 1996. She settled in Kerrville, Texas. Lori was employed at the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library, where she managed the Circulation Department for 10 years.

Committed to helping advance social issues; while at Carleton College Lori chaired the Staff Affairs Committee, meeting regularly with the College President on issues of benefits and job enrichment. She also helped to organize and later chaired, the Accessibility Awareness Committee, brining awareness to and promoting equal access for the disabled in the Northfield, St. Olaf College and Carleton College communities.

Growing-up in the country instilled Lori with a deep appreciation of nature,  In Texas she acted as Director of the Kerrville Native Plant Society, promoting the use of native, non-invasive plant species.

Currently she is a member of the American Leigion Auxillary and Rotary Club International.
